Erin and Dan’s wedding day was a true reflection of Chicago — dynamic, unpredictable, and full of character. They chose the Royal Sonesta Chicago for its riverfront location, modern interiors, and sweeping city views, creating a setting that felt both relaxed and distinctly urban. If you’re planning a celebration here and would like to learn more about my approach to weddings at the Royal Sonesta Chicago, you can explore it in more detail here.

The day began at the Royal Sonesta, where Erin and Dan got ready separately while the energy of the city buzzed just outside. After a lively morning, the celebration moved to St. Peter’s Church for their ceremony. Due to photography restrictions, I experienced the ceremony quietly as a guest — a rare moment that allowed me to fully absorb the emotion and anticipation of the day as it unfolded.

Rain made its presence known early, so portraits were approached with flexibility and intention. We made our way toward Museum Campus, adapting quickly as the weather shifted. When the rain paused, even briefly, we took advantage of the moment — stopping along Wabash Avenue Bridge and near the riverfront for a handful of portraits before returning to the venue.

The Royal Sonesta’s rooftop terrace became a highlight of the evening. With the Chicago skyline stretching in every direction, it offered the perfect setting to slow down and capture a few final moments together. The combination of city views, fresh air, and the rhythm of downtown Chicago made for a celebration that felt personal, atmospheric, and unmistakably tied to the place.

Below is a selection of images from Erin and Dan’s wedding day.
