A Winter Wedding at Galleria Marchetti with Sarah and Chris
Sarah and Chris were married on December 1st, 2018 at Galleria Marchetti in Chicago, a venue known for its refined interiors, intimate courtyard, and timeless European atmosphere. Their wedding day blended classic elegance with a relaxed, personal energy that felt natural to the space. If you’re planning a celebration here and would like to learn more about my approach to weddings at Galleria Marchetti, you can explore it in more detail here.
I met Sarah years earlier while photographing her family, long before she and Chris were even engaged. When they reached out after their engagement and asked me to photograph their wedding, it felt especially meaningful to be invited into such an important chapter of their lives. Throughout the planning process, we spent time photographing their engagement session and talking through the details of the day, which made the wedding itself feel familiar, comfortable, and thoughtfully paced.
The day began at Hotel Palomar, where Sarah and her bridesmaids got ready just one floor above the guys. Even with winter rain outside, the interior spaces offered beautiful light and texture, creating a calm start to the day. After portraits there, we made a brief stop at the Chicago Cultural Center to capture a few quiet moments together before heading to the venue.
The celebration continued at Galleria Marchetti, where the courtyard and interiors provided a warm, inviting setting for the evening. We ended the night with a relaxed portrait session in the courtyard, opening champagne and soaking in the energy of the day. As a surprise, I presented Sarah and Chris with same-day prints in a handcrafted Sue Bryce box — a small way to help them relive the experience before the night was even over.
